Glass Doors for Tub-Shower Combos

A glass tub enclosure gives you a cleaner line, a brighter bathroom, and no curtain to wash or replace. It also lets the tile and the tub show instead of hiding behind fabric.

What Fits Your Tub

Not every tub can carry frameless glass. Cast iron tubs typically hold it well, while fiberglass tubs rarely do, which is why we check the tub itself during the estimate. For the full explanation, read our post on what actually fits your bathtub .

Cast Iron and Other Rigid Tubs

These are the strongest candidates for a heavy frameless enclosure.

Fiberglass and Flexible Tubs

These usually call for a different approach. We will tell you plainly what is realistic before you spend anything.

Door Styles for Tub Enclosures

Sliding Doors

The most common choice on a tub opening, since there is no swing arc to clear. See sliding shower doors .

Hinged Door with a Fixed Panel

A swing door paired with a fixed panel gives you a wide entry. See hinged and pivot doors .

Fixed Panel Only

A single panel can contain spray at the shower end of the tub with no door at all. See fixed glass panels .

FAQ

Tub Enclosures FAQ

  • Can you put frameless glass on any bathtub?

No. Cast iron tubs typically work, while fiberglass tubs rarely do. We check the tub during the estimate and give you an honest answer.

  • Should I choose a sliding or hinged door on a tub?

Sliding is the most common because there is no swing clearance to worry about. A hinged door with a fixed panel works when you want a wider entry and have the room.

  • What glass thickness do you use?

We install 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch tempered safety glass that meets ANSI Z97.1 standards.
